You are an inspiration for your unerring courage and desire to seek the Lord's will in all things from diapers to cars to facebook. God has used you to bless so many, not the least of which is your family, who show obvious signs of tender care, thoughtful consideration, and earnest love.

Happy Birthday Lisa!
I wanted to share with you what I saw in you and hopefully encourage and bless you as you enter this new decade. You obviously have many wonderful qualities, but I think the thing that stuck out to me was your intentionality in which you live your life. You were always seeking out the best way you could honor God, care for the orphan, honor and love your husband and parent with love and excellence. I was constantly amazed at your maturity and zeal to grow and develop. You are an amazing woman and I am happy I was able to play even a teensie role in your life.

Happy Birthday Lisa! I love you!
Happy Birthday Lis,
I'm so grateful to have you in my life.
In high school we shared some great times, lots of laughs, dances, tears, and together we grew into beautiful women. One important thing that I loved and will always love about our friendship is how we challenge each other. We learn new ways to look at things from each other. And you have always blown me away at how open minded, loving and accepting you are. I never have to worry that you will judge or disown me as a friend. I share with other people about this amazing friend I have. You are so understanding, loving and open to all forms of God's love. To me you are a true example of God's love. And of course this extends to your family. You are an amazing wife and mother. I pray someday I'm a little more like you. You will always be one of my best friends ( no matter how long we go without seeing each other) and an inspiration and an angel in my life. I love you so much and will forever be grateful for the day we met our freshman year. And the days we shared chips ahoy together =)

I first met Lisa when she came to Cox School to fill in for a teacher
who needed to go on leave suddenly as school was opening. When I met
LIsa, I thought she should be nervous because she had very little
time to prepare for a classroom of students. I started to give her
all kinds of advice but she indicated (in a very cheerful way) that
she was just fine and ready for the challenge. And she really was
ready! That's how she stayed for all the years we worked next door to
each other. She never seemed to get ruffled; she did not worry about
the small unimportant stuff; she came each day to do her very best for
her students. I felt truly blessed to work next to her and to have her
as a friend.

Exactly 30 years ago today Mary and I walked across the Newman street to Huntington Beach Hospital, where Mary delivered our darling first
daughter, Lisa Stephens. It was a Tuesday and, consistent with what became our family pattern, at about 2 on Tuesday, Lisa arrived. Lisa has been making us proud and giving us joy ever since. Happy Birthday, Lisa! I love you!

You're the only non-family member I've ever lived with, but I feel like you quickly became a sister to me. Whether it was sharing a spot underneath our beds hiding from the "regular Thursday night crowd", listening to your lastest rendition of "hot crossed buns" on the recorder, or erasing Rodondo Rules (among other things) from our white board, we always had a good laugh. Present company excluded, you were the best roomate ever!
While I miss your easy smile and the way you always had an uplifting word, now that I live 3000 miles away, I wanted to wish you a happy 30th birthday. I'm so happy to see the beautiful family that you and Jon have created and so grateful that I can share a little piece of that with you through facebook and your blog. You accomplished a lot since your days in the NICU. I'm extremely proud of the woman you've become. You have always been a thoughtful person who tries to accept people for who they are, all the while setting such a fine example of how happy a Jesus loving person can be that the people around you want to be better. Okay, maybe not Nikki Pfeiffer, but most people. You always seemed to love the Lord, but your experiences at Hume Lake watered the seed and you blossomed as a Christian. You soaked up knowledge in everything you did, from Brownies to 4-H to show business. Like me, God blessed you with a wonderful Christian man to marry at a young age, but the two of you stuck to your plans and achieved your educational goals. You were a fantastic teacher. As parents you and Jonathan are doing a beautiful job, which is the best gift I have ever gotten. I have never had to worry for a second about those precious granddaughters, and your excellent parenting allows me to just be "G-Momo" and spoil them just a little. I love how excited you got over Magnum bars coming to the U.S. I love your sewing projects. I went through my keepsakes of your childhood, and it brought back so many memories that made me smile. Now that you have children of your own you know how much I love you. You've worked hard to get to where you are today. Enjoy the life you've built. The next 30 years will fly by!
